Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic is also a speaking event organizer. Feminist Frequency was founded by Sarkeesian. The website hosts videos with commentary that analyze gender representations in the media and popular culture of today. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist, media critic and a prestigious feminist for more than 10 years. Feminist Frequency is a not-for profit educational site that explores female representations in popular cultural narratives is founded and directed by Sarkeesian. Aiming to dispel the myths that are associated with women in pop media, she is also working with issues that relate to the targeted harassment women and different classes of individuals online. Sarkeesian holds a bachelor's degree in social thought and politics from York University. She is also an internationally acclaimed public presenter. Sarkeesian gave speeches to the TEDxWomen Festival as well as to the United Nations Broadband Working Group. At a young age Sarkeesian was captivated by the issue of gender identity as well as feminist ideas. When she was still in school, in 2009, she created her Feminist Frequency website.
